Southern Golden Retriever Display Team: Blaise
July 28th 2022
At Vet’s Kitchen we like to celebrate our older four-legged friends like beautiful Blaise, who is a golden oldie in more than one way.
Blaise used to perform with the Southern Golden Retriever Display Team, but now at 12 years old has retired. However, owner Lesley says: “She has been my star and loves to show her young brother, Sunny-Jim, 2, who has come into the Team, just how it’s done!”
Blaise has achieved an incredible number of things (so far!). She was the John Lewis dog for their home and pet insurance advert on TV and brochure, she has co-starred in a short film that won awards at international film festivals and she’s appeared on ITV News!
However, these days her favourite things are ice creams, staying in hotels and her owner Lesley…in that order!
Lesley says: “Once she gave me the most terrible fright because halfway along a walk with her four pals, she suddenly turned tail and ran back towards the car park.
I was panic-stricken because she took no notice of my shouting. I left my friend to look after all the others and ran after her. When at last I caught up with her, there she was in the queue at the ice-cream van and the man was serving her!!”
We hope Blaise enjoys her retirement, supporting the team from the side lines and enjoying an after-show ice cream.
Top tip!
Vet’s Kitchen nutritionist Fiona says; “Some dogs can be lactose intolerant, or may struggle to digest fats, this could cause an upset stomach if they eat ice cream or other dairy products. If your pet has any skin or gastrointestinal sensitivities we would not recommend feeding dairy. And don’t forget, if you do feed occasional human foods, you should remove some of your dog’s food to compensate for the extra calories eaten.”
